I am a writer. I am a reader. I am a teenager. I am a homeschooler. I am a highschooler. I am a daughter. I am a sister. I am a friend. But most significantly, I am a daughter of the one true King.
Hi y’all, coming at you with another random life post! Today I’ll be talking about recent reads, what I thought, Life Updates, songs and music, volleyball, spikeball, all the things.
One of my favorite things to do now that school is out (here I come summer and after that sophomore year!) is read. The sun is shining and the rain is gone, and that means it is the perfect time to lay out in the sun and read a good book. This year, I have started a reading journal, which I have found really helpful and fun to keep track of everything!
My most recent reads have been re-reads, both Dearest Josephine (a-MAY-zing book!!!) by Caroline George, and the first in the Mother-Daughter Book Club Series by Heather Vogel Frederick. I love re-reading books, second only to reading a book for the first time…. But these two were so good for the second and fifth (sixth? third? eighth?) times.
Dearest Josephine is written with a duel time plot which was fascinating, really, and the way George twisted a tale through basically letters and emails and texts seems like a feat in and of itself. I love this story but don’t know how to rant about it without spoiling things, but I highly recommend this book. And Oliver….. don’t get me started on how literally AWESOME he is. (don’t know who Oliver is? read the book!! I highly recommend!!)
I have read the Mother-Daughter Book Club countless times, hence my question marks in the previous paragraph, but every time it is just as good. The first time I read it was in sixth grade, and then each book progressed through each year, so I grew up right along with them. However, now I have read all of them, and the girls are all high school grads, and I, alas, am not. The story line is rather relatable, with brothers, life and growing up, as well as friends and things. While my life has been completely different in probably every possible way (ok maybe not EVERY, but, ya know) the things they have to struggle with are relatable to all girls.
Moving on and switching gears to some life updates, I thought I might talk a little bit about me and what I do. As a homeschooler, I am already out of school, summer has arrived yet it is still spring! I fill my time now with reading, writing, and spending time with my friends.
Lake days, reading days, and hanging out, bonfires, spikeball, volleyball, all the things. One of the games we have been playing a lot recently is Smash Face, which is a volleyball-type games played in a circle. No, it is not as painful as it sounds, though it can be if the right person spikes it at the right time and in the right place. Anywhoo, I love summer.
That is one of the main things on my mind lately, as summer nears. How much I looove summer. (I am literally doing a happy dance as I write this, I love summer so much!! the sun the water the games the no school!!!) And as summer nears, so does an amazing opportunity I have been able to take!!! God has called me to join my youth group and church and head out on a mission trip! I am so excited, and it is just under two months away! Your prayers would be greatly appreciated as our group of 70+ people heads down to Mexico this July.
AND lastly, I said we were gonna talk about music. Some of my favorite song artists are Josiah Queen, Forrest Frank, been enjoying jvke lately, all the things. I am constantly singing and dancing, tap dancing, twirling, dancing. I love dancing. That’s another random fact. I tap dance, and am currently learning a piece to the song Sweet Home Alabama, but that is another tale for another day and possibly another blog…
Thank you guys for reading, hope you enjoyed the update! What is your favorite part about summer? Favorite summer reads? Do you dance? Spotify vs Apple Music/another app?
❤️💕❤️ you guys!

Your amazing! Love you
